Starting the SynView Explorer for the first time
Since the iAMGigEServer is pre-installed to the camera´s autostart, software camera images can be received with GigE Vision.
iam should be run with the latest version of SynView Explorer. For this, the host system should be updated. The download link is at the end of section Download latest Synview Prerelease .

iam provide 64-bit processor scalability while combining real-time control with soft and hard engines for graphics and video. In this section we discribe possibilities to build your own younique smart vison system by using the provided infrastructure of iam cameras. There are three main topics discussed below.
The iam basic system describes the out-of-the-box system. With the provided tools it is easy to configure the right camera setup. The next section gives an introduction to the iam customization possibilities. The iam ML version is the best starting point for artificial intelligence application and provides a Deep Learning Processing Unit in the FPGA section of the system.
- Current Software Release Version 3.10 (2021.1)
The current software release version of iam camera is 3.10 and is related to Linux kernel version 5.10.0 and xilinx version 2021.1 (see Current Release for details).
- SynView iam Update Tool
SynView iAM Update Tool
So far SynView iam Update Tool is not part of the official released SynView (e.g. from the NET Website) - therefore it is mandatory to use prerelease Version below on your system.
Preparation
- SynView iam Update Tool
- Video Tutorial Session
- SynView
The SynView API is an application programming library which provides a unified and user friendly API for easy application building. It is based on current GenICam and GenTL standards.
- Applications
In this section we discribe possibilities to build your own younique smart vision system by using the provided infrastructur of iam camera.
- Third Party Libraries
There are different third party libraries such as OpenCV, MIL, HALCON, Adaptive Vision Studio supported officaly by iam smart camera system.
- Features
- Frame Chunk Data
(available in Software Version 4.10 and newer)
The iam supports Frame Chunk Data.
Beside every image 48 Byte chunk data will be delivered (see table below).
- Quadrature Decoder
(available in Software Version 4.10 and newer)
Introduction
The Quadrature Decoder provides an interface between an external Incremental Encoder (Linear or Rotary) and the Sensor Trigger Control Block. The actual Incremental Encoder is connected to the Quadrature Decoder via the External Input.
- Virtual Frame Functionality
(available in Software Version 4.10 and newer)
The iam can collect lines of multiple frames delivered by the sensor and deliver them is a single frame containing all the data. The frame is delivered to the user after a sufficient number of frames was delivered by the sensor to fill the virtual frame.
- System Watchdog (Linux)
(available in Software Version 4.10 and newer)
The iam camera supports a system watchdog. It can recognize a system hang due for example by a segmentation fault and reboot the system automantically.
A way to enable the watchdog is to uncomment the following line in the autostart (etc/iam/autostart.sh):
- Frame Chunk Data
- Current Software Release Version 3.10 (2021.1)
- Technical support
